FlexFlash questions

Gordon Ross

I've got a C220M3 server and I've got a couple of questions regarding the FlexFlash:

  1. According to the docs, when you configure the operational profile via the web interface, you should get four virtual drives. But I'm only getting one drive: "HV"
  2. I've added a second SD card of the same size (so as to RAID1 mirror the flash) but with the card inserted, the server only ever reports a heath state of "Degraded RAID" I've tried resetting the controller, partition defaults, etc. but still the same. What gives?

Thanks,

Hi Gordon,

1)

Supported Features in Release 1.5(4)

Starting with this version, the SD storage device is available to CIMC as a single hypervisor (HV) partition configuration. Prior versions had four virtual USB drives.

CIMC 1.5(4) release notes.

2)

Are these Cisco supported SD cards?  Try synchronizing the cards using the SCU

Let me know if this helps  or if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the link on the change in behavior.

I used SCU to re-sync the cards. (It took hours!) Afterwards it said success, yet the CIMC is still saying there's a fault:

Hi Are you still seeing the degraded fault in the cimc? From what I can see it looks like the raid created. It might just be some cosmetic issue, at this point I would recommend you to open a case with TAC to have them take a look at it for you. It is possible that the flex flash controller needs to get reseat or replace. let me know if that helps

I tried a resync again, and again it failed. This time, though, I did see a message where it said "Resync failed". Looking at the logs it seemed unhappy with one of the SD cards. I've replaced the SD cards and am trying again.

BTW - Is it possible to manage & monitor the SD mirroring via the CICM CLI, or can it only be done via the SCU?

Okay, let me know what happens, with regards to your question, yes it is possible to do the sync via the CIMC, but the SCU was the original method to this work.

The replaced SD card synced fine.

:-)

Thanks,
