Hyperflex Installer Deploy Validation rhttpproxy

During a Hyperflex Installer deployment, during the Deploy Validation phase, I'm getting this message:

vCenter Reverse Proxy Port Check

vCenter reverse proxy at x.x.x.x is not reachable. Verify vCenter rhttpproxy port is open and set to 80.

The springpath logs do not appear to give much information besides repeating the message in various ways. The Validator_VCenterReversePortReachable is named as the source.

The Hyperflex Installer can contact vCenter on port 80, though it gets automatically redirected to 443. There are no messages about certificates I can find.

The new ESXi hosts can contact the vCenter on port 80. I don't see anything about a redirect here, but I expect it is redirected also.
