IPMI Drivers

Telsource NMC

Level 1

We have nearly 1300 UCS-E140D-M1/K9 servers in our environment we depend on the CIMC and KVM to support them since they are dispersed in many locations in a large number of states. The question I would like answered if anyone knows is why on any day will we have several CIMC's become unreachable? When you look at the device in device manager you see the following

Device status

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

A device which does not exist was specified.

Most of the time the 2921 chassis can be power cycled and the drivers are loaded the problem we are having is that you can't just reboot the E140 but power has to be removed from the 2921 chassis which in turn takes the router down as well. Does anyone know of another way to get the drivers to load or how to avoid this all together. I've tried everything I can think of and so far power cycling the chassis is the only thing that works.

This appears to match your symptoms:

Looks like the fix is in CIMC 2.3.5 for the E-series.
