Hey Janardan,

Yes, this configuration is fine, essentially the 2204 and 2208 are the same, besides the extra bandwidth that the 8 port IOM/FEX allows.

If you were running 2104 IOM you may have to worry about compatibility issues when upgrading to 3.1 code in the future.

If you mean to ask for some chassis with 2204s and some other chassis with 2208s, Wes gave you the right answer, if you mean to have a single chassis with a 2204 and 2208 at the same time, you will end up with some unbalanced configuration cause the backplane ports of the 2204 are 16 interfaces while the 2208 has 32 interfaces and servers are pinned in an specific way for each IOM but I still "think" it should work but definitely not best practice.

Thanks Wes and Kenny for responses. Yes I meant some chassis with 2204s and some other chassis with 2208.
