Is it possible to create a KVM role in UCS Manager?
We are using LDAP for authentication and we'd like to map a group to a role that would only allow KVM access.
The users in the KVM role would be able to see a remote console, power the server on/off, attach media (ISO's). But we don't want them to be able to modify settings of the service profile like adding NIC's or changing a policy.
Is this possible? I don't see a built-in KVM role.

You can create a role called kvm-access or whatever you want to name it and then give it the "service-profile-ext-access" priviledge. You could then map this role to an AD group.

Thank you, the "service-profile-ext-access" role was what I was looking for. I had a hard time figuring out what rights the different roles give you.
But it looks like that allows you to do KVM.
Thanks again for your help!

I tried this. The user clicks on KVM Launch Manager and is presented with a login screen that includes the drop-down for the LDAP authentication. Once authentication is complete, the users sees a page with the servers listed. When they click on "Launch" for any of the servers, they are presented with another login dialog box. This dialog box does not have a drop down for the LDAP/Local/Native selection and the user gets a "Login failed" message when they enter their credentials. We have tried various ways to enter the credentials with no luck. Any ideas?
Thanks.
