Nexus 1000v and MAX_PORTS_EXCEEDED

Hi ,

I changed some Vmnics on UCS 6248 (remove and create new one) but on 1000V I have an error

2012 Nov 13 11:29:17 E2VSM001 %ETH_PORT_CHANNEL-5-PCM_ROLLBACK_MAX_PORTS_EXCEEDED: Max ports per channel exceeded while trying to create port-channel 0. Rollback will be  performed.

2012 Nov 13 11:29:17 E2VSM001 %PORT-PROFILE-2-INTERFACE_QUARANTINED: Interface Ethernet15/11 has been quarantined due to Cmd Failure

2012 Nov 13 11:29:17 E2VSM001 %ETHPORT-5-IF_DOWN_PORT_PROFILE_INHERIT_ERR: Interface Ethernet15/11 is down (port-profile inherit error)

I checked the configuration, with sh port-p I have only 6 interfaces assigned to the PO so is there a possibility to reset a counter, to update something , I rebooted the ESX, the VEM 15, same issue.

I checked the configuration the old vmnics didn't exist on N1K and with vsphere.

make sure the vethernet port-profiles are configured properly on the 1000V.

look for the "vmware max-ports 256"

Hi ,

In fact the problem was link to the vmnic configuration on vsphere.

The configuration on UCS and N1K were OK , Vsphere were not properly updated on the physical adapter tab. We checked the configuration and now all are OK, but we lost a lot of time because the N1K sent a bad error message.
