Pre-configured BIOS Profiles for UCS Standalone servers

Hi,

Per Cisco documentation, there are pre-configured BIOS profiles ( virtualization, high-Performance etc.. ) available to download from Cisco Website. However the site link is not provided.

Does anyone have that link to download the profiles from?

Thanks

Not sure what document you are referring to, but there is a tuning doc at https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-b-series-blade-servers/white-paper-c11-744678.html for M5s, and https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-b-series-blade-servers/performance-tuning-guide-ucs-m6-servers.html for M6s.

The overall guide's settings also apply to standalone rack servers.

In the UCSM, once you have custom tailed a policy, you can apply it to multiple servers.

Standalone IMC BIOS settings for M5s: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/sw/gui/config/guide/4_2/b_cisco_ucs_c-series_gui_configuration_guide_42/b_Cisco_UCS_C-series_GUI_Configuration_Guide_41_appendix_010011.html

The standalone CIMC does support exporting/importing the CIMC settings as a whole, including customized BIOS policy settings you have made.

For BIOS specific import/exports, see  https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/sw/gui/config/guide/4_2/b_cisco_ucs_c-series_gui_configuration_guide_42/b_Cisco_UCS_C-series_GUI_Configuration_Guide_41_chapter_0100.html#concept_68CCB1BE65434C95BDFF1BF658894426 and  https://community.cisco.com/t5/unified-computing-system-knowledge-base/using-bios-profiles-on-ucs-standalone-rack-servers/ta-p/3630446 This also has some sample BIOS policies.

I don't think the sample bios policies are meant to be anything more than a template that shows you how to add specific settings to the profile to match your specific requirements.

Kirk...

Here are a few references I came across about pre-configured BIOS profiles.

Cisco UCS Integrated Management Controller CLI Configuration Guide for S3260 Storage Servers, Release 4.0 - Managing the Server [Cisco Integrated Management Controller] - Cisco

Cisco UCS – Energy Efficient BIOS Profile/Policy - Cisco Community - PP presentation has mention of them being available on Cisco UCS community site. I couldn't find them on here though.

Regarding Import and Export of a BIOS profile, a json formatted file can uploaded and activated. However there is no option to download the file. The "view details" option provides a tabular format and not in json. CLI doesn't provide json format either. If this feature is made available, it would be helpful to replicate. This is on C480 M5 running 4.2(2f).

It would also help if the BIOS token are mentioned along with the BIOS parameters in the same documentation.

The M5 Performance Tuning guide provided I think is based on the 1st Gen Intel Scalable processors since I don't see some of the CPU parameters on my C480M5 server having 2nd Gen Intel Gold Processor.  Perhaps this white paper needs a revision?

Thanks
