Hello,
I need to connect a Quantum LTO-5 Tape Drive, Full Height, Single, 3U Rackmount, 6Gb/s SAS with an SFF8088 mini-SAS connector
Can you suggest me a SAS card for Cisco UCS C-200 M2 server in order to connect it to the tape drive?
Thanks,

We just purchased a PCIe LSI 9200-8E SAS HBA...but I guess any PCIe SAS HBA will work.

Hi Dani ,
There are some SAS cards that are supported by the system.
Please check on the following document for further details:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/hw/C200M1/install/replace.html
Hope this helps!

I'm sorry I don't see them in the link you provided me with.
Can you point them out to me please?

Sorry, I don't know how does this exactly work. So if I understand correctly, I can perfectly plug a SAS Tape Drive to a RAID Controller PCIe as long as this PCIe does have an external SAS connector...is that right? In this case, only MegaRAID 9280-4i4e would work...the rest don't have any external SAS connector, as far as I see...
In this assumption, MegaRAID can act as a SAS HBA while acting as a RAID Controller at the same time for internal disk drives as well....
Is my understanding right?

Someone could please answer whether last statement is right?
Thanks,

You're correct. To connect to an external SAS Tape drive you'd need a MegaRAID card with "e" external connectors.
For the C200 M2 that LSI MegaRAID 9280-4i4e is your only option.

Robert
