Hello,
Once we have the new 2.1(1) release for UCS Manager I'd like to know the following when using Fabric Interconnects in FC Switch Mode:
1) Is it possible to connect a supported storage array directly to the Fabric Interconnects at the same time of having a Nexus/MDS connected as an uplink switch?
2) Who will make the zoning in the latter case (MDS/Nexus or Fabric Interconnects)?
3) Is it possible to set up zoning between two storage arrays connected to the Fabric Interconnects so that is possible to replicate storage from one array to the other?
4) If storage array 1 is connected directly to the Fabric Interconnects while storage array 2 is connected to the Nexus/MDS uplink,is it still possible to zone and replicate between the two arrays?
Thanks,

Hi Dani,
Answers to your questions below.
1) Is it possible to connect a supported storage array directly to the Fabric Interconnects at the same time of having a Nexus/MDS connected as an uplink switch?
[ANSWER] Yes, you can connect a storage array directly to the FI, but make sure that you put it in a different VSAN than the one connected to MDS/N5K. You can enable zoning on this new VSAN and do the zoning in FI.
2) Who will make the zoning in the latter case (MDS/Nexus or Fabric Interconnects)?
[ANSWER] Your existing zoning will remain same and the zoning will have to be in MDS/N5K. This VSAN will not have zoning enabled in UCS.
3) Is it possible to set up zoning between two storage arrays connected to the Fabric Interconnects so that is possible to replicate storage from one array to the other?
[ANSWER] Replication is not possible through FI. If you have extra ports in new storage, you can connect those ports to MDS/N5K, and manage the replication through them.
4) If storage array 1 is connected directly to the Fabric Interconnects while storage array 2 is connected to the Nexus/MDS uplink,is it still possible to zone and replicate between the two arrays?
[ANSWER] No, you wouldn't be able to do this as they will be in different VSAN's. Again this can be managed as mentioned in point 3 above.
