UCS 1.4.1 direct path and ESX4.1

Hi all,

anyone knows if ESX4.1(of course enterprise plus) is fully compatible with the VEM that is installed with UCS in VM tab?

i'm having this error when i try to add vSwitch to a host.

vDS operation failed on host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, An error occurred during host configuration. got (vim.fault.PlatformConfigFault) exception

any help will be appreciated .

Yes ESX 4.1 should be supported with UCS 1.4.1. Here is the UCS to VEM version matrix

1.    ESX 4.0 (U1) : cisco-vem-v110-esx-4.0.4.1.2.0.81-1.12.8

2.    ESX 4.0 (U2) : cisco-vem-v130-esx-4.2.1.1.3.293.0-1.20.3

3.    ESX 4.1 : cisco-vem-v130-esx-4.2.1.1.3.293.0-2.0.3

If it's not installing automatically then make sure VUM is installed on your vCenter Server. If VUM is installed, take a look at the logs on vCenter in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Logs

Also make sure the connection between UCSM and vCenter is still active.

You can always install the vib manually via esxupdate or vihostupdate.

i'll try.

So firstly install right version of VEM manually (my case)

second install plugin on vcenter (downloadd from UCS)

third configure UCS for connect to vcenter

then configure direct path

Hi,

it works properly with 4.0 update1 (but i think also with ESX4.1)

I've installed last version of VEM (in accord to compatibility matrix)

In advanced options of vCenter i've added vNic that have to be seen as LSI device (direct path)

nothing more, i need to do nothing on UCS manager (no adding vCenter or creating service profile).

my (BAD) previous experience was with ESX4.1.......

i've added vCenter to UCS and configured vSwitch (VEM previously configured with right version)

i've added vNic0 to vSwitch Nexus1000

i've added vNic0 to direct path

ESX4.1 reboot and badddddddd crash without restore so reinstall all

so i have to use direct path not in conjunction with vSwitch i think

Anyone can validate my sentences above described?
