Hi,

Please find the attached.

I want to know the RAID controller firmware for UCS C22  M3 Servers, when i try to access through CIMC it is showing me nothing.

How can i get it??

What is the RAID controller installed?

When the server is booting up, it should show the LSI or embedded software RAID.

In your case, it could that it is using the embedded software RAID, because that one does not appear under the Storage tab.

All the other supported controllers for this server are PCIe, and they should show under the Storage tab.

By the way, ESXi is not compatible with the Patsbug Software RAID. You can also check if it is enabled on the bios (Advanced > South Bridge > Onboard SATA controller)

You may also try to get that information from the GUI if the controller is a PCIe device, try the following:

m2 /chassis # show storageadapter  <<< Look for a LSI MegaRAID and see the SLOT-#

m2 /chassis # scope storageadapter SLOT-#

m2 /chassis/storageadapter # show firmware-versions

Hello Clark,

The system is using embedded RAID controller which cannot be accessed via CIMC.

CIMC will display the properties if the server has Mezz or PCI based LSI RAID controllers.

As you may see the system is asking you to enter Cntl + M to "run LSI Software RAID Setup Utility", so you are using the embedded controller as you may see it here:

Then open an SSH session to the CIMC IP address, and try the following:

Server# scope chassis
Server /chassis # show storageadapter  <<< to try to see slot where the system sees the adapter
Server /chassis # scope storageadapter 
Server /chassis/storageadapter # show firmware-versions <<< this will show it

If i restart the server and press CTL M to enter the configure  uitility it will show me firmware ???? , after pulling information what i want  i will exit the utility without saving, Will this procedure will affect my existing RAID??? and configuration.

I'm not sure why you need to know the firmware version for that.

But yes, you can access the utility by pressing CTRL+M, take a look and exit, without affecting the array functionality.

However, I was checking the guide for this controller, and it does not mention where you can see the firmware for the controller. Here is the guide:

The default setting in the BIOS for the embedded controller is Disabled. When you order the server with the embedded controller, the BIOS setting is Enabled at the factory. However, if a server is reset to defaults, this BIOS setting is reverted to Disabled.

I am having an issue where I reset my BIOS to it's factory settings, and changed the onboard SCU Support back to enabled, but am unable to use the MegaRAID. Any ideas?

You must have the Megacli install to review firmware version.

MegaCLI –v -Cli | Ctrl | Driver | Pd | –aN

For firmware versions and the other code levels installed on the controller.
