UCS upgrade

Hi All,

We are running infra bundle version 2.0(4b) and need to go to 2.1(1b) to comply with VCE release matrix 4.0.0.

I read that since UCSM 2.1 onwards the Firmware Auto Install option is available however it has the following requirements as mentioned in the

Cisco UCS B-Series GUI Firmware Management Guide, Release 2.1:-----------------

"Minimum Firmware Levels Required to Run Auto Install
A Cisco UCS domain must meet the following minimum firmware levels if you want to upgrade some or all
of the endpoints with Auto Install:
• All endpoints must be Cisco UCS, Release 1.4 or later.
• All endpoints must run the latest firmware maintenance release or patch for that release.
For example, a Cisco UCS domain that is running Cisco UCS, Release 1.4 must be running Cisco UCS,
Release 1.4(4j), and a Cisco UCS domain that is running Cisco UCS, Release 2.0 must be running 2.0(4a)."

My confusion is regarding the second condition:-

I see that for 2.0 release a latest patch 2.0(5c) is out. Does that mean that if i just upgrade my UCSM to 2.1(1b) , i still wont be able to use

Firmware Auto install because the rest of the endpoints are using 2.0(4b)

Moreover when i tried to just active UCSM to 2.1(1b) , it didnt go ahead as it failed compatibility check. I went thru the 2.1 (1b) release notes and feel pretty safe as none of the cautions apply to our enviornment , still not sure whether i can go ahead and check the Ignore compatibility box and go ahead with the UCSM upgrade to have the Firmware Auto Install functionality , post which i will use it to upgrade other endpoints to 2.1 (1b)

You should still be able to use this feature as this a feature incorporated in UCSM 2.1.

See videos below where they walk through an upgrade like the one you are planning.
