After successfully installing VMware Player v6.0.3 in my Windows 7 64-bit laptop and downloading the ucspe .ova file I cannot open the ucspe GUI at the specified IP address, because of an error message "vmx file corrupt" . What action can I take to rectify this ?

Check that the file size matches the one shown in the website you downloaded the image from and try to download the image again or download another version.

Hi, Kenny,
Thanks for the reply. I made several attempts downloading different versions of .ova or .zip files for the ucspe, but I had no success. The problem still remains. Are there any compatibility issues with respect to the version of VMware Player, that one should use, considering the Windows 7 OS, and / or the appropriate UCS platform emulator version ? If there are no such limitations, how can one rectify the vmx file from the downloaded .ova or .zip file ?
Looking forward to your feedback,
Fotis

It looks like you can directly use this other thread to get a fix from the ppl in charge:

It looks like this other user "kschleppenbach Jul 25, 2014 12:49 PM" had a similar issue and Eric Williams uploaded another .OVA file for him :)
