Hi folks,
Kind of seeing something that is really strange. I have built out a service profile and bound my vNICs to vNics template. On vNic template, I only have a single VLAN assign to it and the service profile has the same vlan. I also have multple common VLANs set up but they are NOT bounded to the my vNICs. I have intalled ESXi on a B230M1 blade and within VMWare, I have assigned an IP address and set the VLAN to one of my common VLANs.
Since the service profile doesn't have that particular vlan on the vNICs, I would assume that the Fabric Interconnects would drop this traffic however, it's still passing this traffic to upstream switches. Is this suppose the behavior?? My UCS is running 1.4(3q).

Cy,
You are correct with your assumption.
Only VLANs defined on the your vNICs or vNIC Template bound-vNICs be transfer between your service profile host and the FI.
What makes you say you have traffic traversing between your host and VLANs notn allowed on the vNICs of the host?
Pleast provide any outputs that confirm what you're stating.
A couple useful commands to assist us are:
1. Identify the veth # of the vNIC in question from within UCSM
2. From the "NXOS" conetext of UCSM CLI,.issue "show int trunk veth x"
This should list ONLY the VLANs defined in your vNICs and/or Templates which are linked.

Robert

Hi Robert,
At this point, I have the ESXi on vlan x .... and the service profile vnics only has the default vlan (1) attached to it. From subnet y, I can ping the ESXi host and the ESXi host can ping a workstation on subnet Y.
Where do I find the veth # on the USCM, only thing close to a number is the VIF .....is this what I am looking for
