Hello

i need explanation how work the FI  clustering.  We have 2 6454 Fi.

If the two FI are powered down (maintenance raison in the datacenter) and that only the FI in subordinate mode is power up, what happen to the cluster ?

is the secondary node became primary on its own  ? how much time it will wait the primary node before switching ?

Are must we force it to primary ?

thanks for your help

If you boot up secondary FI without chassis and primary FI, assuming this cluster was up and working before, it should boot up as primary FI.

If you power on the subordinate by itself, then it will become the primary and cluster lead. It will remain the cluster lead unless there is an event where it needs to go down and switches its lead role back to the other Fabric Interconnect. You can also manually choose a cluster lead, but it can be A or B FI, there is no requirement for a certain FI to hold a certain role.

i m reading this website :

if i understand well , one FI need at least one chassis Up to be able to start lead election and become primary ?

if i power up my secondary node on its own , without primary FI and no chassis, will it stay in secondary mode ?

thanks

If you boot up secondary FI without chassis and primary FI, assuming this cluster was up and working before, it should boot up as primary FI.

Thanks , we have shutdown and power up our system succesfully
