Hi
I have a Linksys PAP2T-NA which was setup and worked fine using the sipgate service. This week I was in mid-call and the line went dead. I rebooted the adaptor at which point I lost the dial tone on the phone plugged in to the adaptor. I have the following symptoms:
-no dial tone, but a faint hiss (input to mic can be heard on speaker)
-I can dial and change settings on the adaptor through the phone
-no incoming or outgoing calls
-the adaptor successfully logs on to the Sipgate service
-I have tried 3 different phones each with the same problem
Any ideas what the likely problem is?
thanks

Is your PAP correctly registered to sipgate? Can you check this via web menu?
Can you change the line from FX1 to FXS2 or viceversa?
Can you change the power supply?
Regards.

Sorry, I should also have added:
-registration state is shown as "Online" which I assume means it is correctly registered
-I have tried both FX1 and FX2 and get the same no dialtone problem
-I have performed a factory reset (73738#)
-I have just tested it with a resgulated power supply and replicate the same problem
thanks

Can you check the hook state in the voice-info menu?
In idle state must be on hook.
Check the pinout. You must have only a 2 wire (tip and ring) cable. 4 wire cable can be problematic.
Tip and ring must be connected to central pin of RJ11 connector (pin 3 and pin 4).
Regards.

Dear Daniele
Thank you very much for your assistance.
Yes, the idle state is on-hook. As the log shows, I lifted the receiver, then replaced it.
It is however a 4-wire cable so I will source a 2-wire and see how it works.
thanks
04-26-2012 02:03 AM
I've now put a 2-wire cable in and still get the same problem.
Any more thoughts at all? It seems unlikely to be defective given that it did work and that the unit logs in to the SIP service, as well as allowing acces through the phone to the adaptor menu.....
04-26-2012 10:53 AM
I don't understand if you can make a call from your PAP?
The only problem is the missing of dial tone?
Can you post your regional parameters?
Regards.
04-26-2012 11:11 AM
I *can't* make a call from the PAP. There is no dial tone and I cant make or receive calls.
I *can* access the PAP configuration through the telephone however (****)
Ive attached the regional parameters. Hope this helps. Very frustrating....could be a hardware fault, but with everything else working that seemed unlikely.

Please, enable SIP debug under Line menu and post new syslog. Regards.

Your PAP has detected the digit number correctly and sent the SIP INVITE to your ISP.
To ISP has sent you a 100 Trying response and so a 180 ringing.

Do you have heard a ring back tone?

Thank you for replyig so quickly!! So, two points:
1. There is no dial tone and the PAP clearly receives the digits from the phone but doesnt dial out
2. The PAP clearly receives a request from the ISP ("Tryging To" and "Ringing To") when I dial in but the phone does *not* ring
thanks
