Cisco 2951 - Cisco 3802I AP and WLC Issue After router IOS Change

Hi all

So me and my team look after about 180 offices all running Cisco 2951, 1 or more 3802I AP's in flex-connect mode and a WLC 5520.

the issue we have is that we have some router running IOS version c2951-universalk9-mz.SPA.153-2.T.bin

When we try to upgrade this IOS to something more recent the AP will join the WLC then drop off then join again and so on and so forth.

We revert back to the .T and all is good.

All our other sites are running fine.

Has anyone see this sort of thing before?

Thanks

Simon

Simon,

Anything is possible. Typically when upgrading any IOS devices if it causes issues and then reverting to the original image fixes it, then you know something is broke, or at least with how your design is. When you run into issues like that, you would open a TAC case since you can replicate it. Most likely TAC will point you to another code version.

You mentioned other sites are working fine? Same router and image? If so, have you checked if any of the config has changed after the upgrade? You can lower the TCP MSS on the AP’s to see if that helps also.

to something more recent => how big is the difference in version?
try upgrading in steps, first from 153-2.T. to 153-3.M10 then onward
