Hi,

I have configured two AP541N in a cluster, but only VAP0,  is listed as clustered. None of the VAPs seems to be clustered. What can I configure to get all SSIDs clustered?

Product Identifier:AP541N-E-K9
Hardware Version:V01
Software Version:AP541N-K9-2.0(4)

Thanks!

Hello Eskild, can you please verify the VAP is enabled and broadcasting?

All VAPs are enabled and broadcasting.

Only VAP0 is listed as "In Cluster" under "Cluster -> Wireless Neighborhood".

Thanks!

Are all SSID broadcasting when you use your wireless connection manager from the computer? When you configure one of the AP541 and successfully join the cluster, all settings should mirror to all other AP. If you make a change to 1 unit, all units are updated with those changes.

Can you verify the cluster is fully intact with the correct cluster names, etc?

Here is an example of the Wireless Neighborhood

Hi Eskild

Yep Tom as usual is spot on,  the AP uses a proprietary protocol within the default vlan to communicate with other AP's.

But do please check out the admin guide built into the Access point, in this case it could explain how clustering is configured and what it does..

Goto the cluster tab and select help at the top right hand corner.  You should see, a complete description on what clustering does, what needs to be configured so that APs in the same copper IP network can communicate between themselves and form a cluster.  A section is copied below just as a reference..

The AP cluster is a dynamic, configuration-aware group of APs in the same subnet of a network. Each cluster can have up to 10 members. The cluster provides a single point of administration and enables you to view the deployment of access points as a single wireless network rather than a series of separate wireless devices. A network subnet can have multiple clusters. Clusters can share various configuration information, such as VAP settings and QoS queue parameters.

A cluster can be formed between two APs if the following conditions are met:

-

The APs use the same radio mode (for example, radio 1 uses 802.11g)

-

The APs are connected on the same bridged segment.

-

The APs joining the cluster have the same Cluster Name.

-

Clustering mode is enabled on both APs.

regards Dave

As far as I can see, the cluster is properly configured. Config changes is distributed to both access points:

As you can see in the image, only the SSID "skaar", is listed as "In cluster".

Thanks!

Notice the VAP names. The blue bars indicate it detects the SSID and of course the mbps. Take notice at the top of the screen is the mac address and IP address of the cluster node. Also notice there is a "repeat" of SSID.

skaar 192.168.123.4 is 46 mbps

skaar 192.168.123.7 is 45 mbps

observe the duplicate entries

KLHEIA53

SKLABV6

GJESTER

Right below this is the same SSID but on opposite AP. Observe how each of those SSID correspond to each different AP IP/mac address

Thanks Tom,

I have seen the things you asked me to look at, but nothing explaines why the following entries are not listed as in cluster:

- KLHEIA53

- SKLABV6

- GJESTER

skaar is listed as in cluster as so should the other SSIDs. The way it looks now, is that the three enries above are SSIDs in two none clustered access points.

Thanks.

Are the SSID configured on your AP or you have no idea what those are? Notice the picture and red marks. You can choose to view what details. The AP will show other AP in range of the cluster.

- KLHEIA53

- SKLABV6

- GJESTER

They are SSIDs that I have configured:

Okay, now please make a screen shot of your cluster neighborhood using the option "in cluster". Please show the entire page as my above example

Thanks, please choose option "in cluster" and make similar screen shot.

What happens if you put your other ssid in to vlan 1?
