WRVS4400N Dropping wireless users

I have a WRVS4400N running the latest firmware.  It's being used in a campus housing environment.  It's in a single house and provides good coverage.  It's been there for 1 year without any issues.  There are 20 tenants in the house so with multiple devices and visitors there could possibly be as many as 60 wireless users at one time.

Recently it's starting to drop wireless users and provide extremely slow connectivity at random times.  I factory defaulted the device and updated the firmware last week with no change in the problem.

These are the two issues we're having:

1)  Wired download speeds directly from my cable modem are at 35Mbps, but if I go though the 4400 router it drops to 24Mbps using the same testing procedure.  I tried putting a spare Sonicwall router there just to compare and got the full 35Mbps download speeds through it.  I also tried putting a switch between the cable modem and the 4400 router to eliminate any auto negotiation issues but that made no difference.

2)  Wireless connections drop randomly.  Users also notice extremely slow speeds (unable to upload documents) at times as well.

Strangley this router worked fine with the same amount of users for about a year before starting with these issues.

Hi Chris, try to disable the IPS. See if it helps any. The router is not designed for 60 connective wireless users. That's pretty impressive if you had good performance with that.
