1130 APs compatible with the 2006 controller

Hi -

Looking to set up a small office cheaply and quickly and was thinking about ordering a 2006 and some 1130s off EBay. Are the lightWeight 1130s compatible with the 2006?

Thank you, Pat.

Yeah they are as long as the AP's are or have the lightweight image.

Sweet? Thank tou Scott!!

It can handle 6 APs right? I tried downloading some software for the 2006 but it seems they have creacked down on the access. I used my CCO but, still couldn't download the code. Guess I'll be stuck with what the device comes with.

Thanks

Yeah you would need smartnet in order to download code these days. 6 AP is what is the minimum but your AP's need to be lightweight also or else they are worthless to you since you would not be able to download code for the access points.

I have Smartnet -  shouldn't my CCO allow me to download software? The APS we are going to get are light wieght but, I would still like to get the newest image possible. We can down load images for our 5508s so, you would think we could download images for the 2006, right?

Thanks.

You need SmartNet for your WLC to be able to download the firmware of the WLC.  The WLC will then push the firmware down to the APs.

You can tell by looking at what the image is on teh AP.  Here is a doc that explains the different code:

You need an image the has k9w8

The other thing is to take a look at the underside of the AP and see if the model has an "AP" or "LAP".  LAP is lightweight access point and AP is standalone which will not join the 2006.  The person could of converted the AP but you would have to either console into the ap and issue a show version and look at the code it has booted up on.

Thanks,

Scott

I don't know... I know the 5508 image is the same for the 2504, but I don't think not will work for the 2006. You would need smartnet for a 4400
