Usually the release notes keep saying that it is not supported, but actually I never had a problem with it.

Of course you will lose all the configuration that is specific to 7.2, and you could run into problems if you are using flexconnect settings, because before 7.2 this feature used to be called hreap.

So I strongly recommend to backup your configuration before doing the downgrade. If your configuration is not too complex, it could be a good idea to do the upgrade, reset your wlc to factory settings, and reconfigure your controller.

Stefan

Ahmed,

on which code version is your 5500 running?

The 1300 bridges are only supported until 7.0.x as you can see in the WLC release notes:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn73.html#wp976967

regards

Stefan

Dear Stefan,
Many thanks for your kind reply,
Please find the information below:
Controller Summary
Management IP Address10.114.44.131
Service Port IP Address

10.114.23.20

Software Version7.2.111.3
Field Recovery Image Version 6.0.182.0
System NameCIR906.WLC.5508

Please Advise,

Thanks,

Ahmed,

Your WLC needs to be on 7.0 code. 7.2 and above isnt supported.

Dear George,

Many thanks for your kind reply,

Is there is any workaround solution?

Because I have another LAP (AIR-LAP1261N-E-K9) and it not able to work with the old version,

Please advise,

Thanks,

Ahmed,

It depends on the number of APs, but maybe if you have just a few of the 1300s, maybe you could run them in autonomous mode without a WLC?

regards

Stefan

Dear Stefan,

Many thanks for your kind reply,

I will try to think of this option,

But I really appreciate if there is any workaround solution to join these LAP to the WLC,

Please Advise,

Thanks,

Ahmed,

If you only have legacy APs (basically all except 1600, 2600,3600) then you could downgrade to 7.0.

The 1260 series is supported with 7.0.

Regards

Stefan

Dear Stefan,

Many thanks for your kind reply,

I will try to do the downgrade, is there any concern about this downgrade,

Please advise for the best steps to do this downgrade, because this is my first time to do a downgrade,

Thanks,

Ahmed,

How many 1300 do you have?

If you have a little funds, you can look for 4402/4404 to run legacy APs.  Because the 4400 is already End-of-Sale, you could find traded-in units from Cisco Refurbished.

Dear Leolaohoo,

Many thanks for your great advise,

I believe you are right,

Thanks,

Ahmed,
