9120 APX unable to upgrade to ap1g7-k9w8-tar.153-3.JK5

Just for background We have a wireless network with 1560 running mobility express. I'm looked to see if i can add a spare 9120 AXP to the network as a subordinate AP. I check the software matrix and found that as the 1560 is running 8.10.151.0 i will need to have 15.3-3.jk5 on the 9120. The existing image on the 9120 is 8.10.106.0.  Im having trouble getting the 9120 to accept the image.

AP#ap-type ewc-ap tfpt://192.168.1.2/ap1g7-k9w8-tar.153-3.JK5

Im getting error message of

Error: ap1g7-k9w8-tar.153-3.JK5 not supported in image_download.sh.

I just wanted to make sure im doing this right to add the 9120 to the 1561 ME network.

Thanks in advance

Regardless of anything else you should be upgrading to 8.10.190.0 as per TAC recommended link below.

But assuming you stick to old version 8.10.151.0 then the correct AP image version is 15.3(3)JK5 as per https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#aireos-ctr_ap_support

As Marce pointed out the 9120 must be a subordinate AP running a CAPWAP image as per the release notes.
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/mob_exp/810/release_notes/b_ME_RN_810.html#me-supp-ap
You've tried to convert it to EWC using an AireOS image= double mistake!  EWC uses 9800 series IOS-XE code and cannot be used at the same time as Mobility Express.  So you simply need to install the correct CAPWAP image on the AP:
https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286322983/type/286288051/release/15.3.3-JK5
9120-AP#archive download-sw /reload ?
WORD URL of AP image <tftp|sftp>://<server_ip>/<file_path>

                       >...AP#ap-type ewc-ap ...
 - For starters you will need the AP in CAPWAP mode to be subordinate , not EWC

JK5 is not 8.10.105.0 and 8.10.105.0 is not JK5.

The ME controller needs to be upgraded, to a minimum, 8.10.151.0 for JK5 equivalency.

Look at the back of the 9120 where the serial number is located.  Find out if the Date of Manufacture of the AP.  IF the AP was manufactured later than September 2022, the ME controller needs to be running 8.10.18X.0.

Hi sorry typo on my part the ME controller is running 8.10.151.0 and the AP was manufactured on 3/2020.

Read and understand the error message.

There is no filename called "ap1g7-k9w8-tar.153-3.JK5".  There is, however, a filename called "ap1g7-k9w8-tar.153-3.JK5.tar".
