We have one 4404 with 100 managed accesspoints. Now we are going to buy two 5508 to replace the 4404.
Hopefully we can join the two new 5508 to the existing configuration, move the acesspoints to then and then "disjoin" the old controller.
Is there any guide for doing this?

I don't know of any official guide for this migration purpose, but here is one way of doing it:
1. Add your 5508 to the network, configure them (WLANs, etc).
2. Make your 4404 and your 5508 members of the same mobility group (under Controller > General).
3. Make your 4404 known to your 5508s and your 5508s known to the 4404 and the other 5508 (under Controller > Mobility management).
4. Push your access points (6 by 6 max) to the 5508s by defining a new primary controller for each AP and rebooting the AP.
5 .Once the APs have all joined the 5508s, remove the 4404 from the network and from the 5508s configuration.
All this can be done through WCS if you have it.
Hope it helps

Thanks for your reply.
In the interfaces for the Wlans, should the controllers have different IP's, or should they share the same IP's?

Hi,
Well, they should have different IPs, otherwise you would get a "duplicate address" error message.
If your controllers connect to the same Switch, these different IPs would probably be in the same subnet (so if controller 4404 has an IP of 10.10.4.10/24 for VLAN6 interface, 5508 would be 10.10.4.X/24 (not 10) in the same VLAN). If the 5508 connect to another switch, then the policy depends on your Wired policy...
