AIR-CAP3702E-B-K9 Loss of Mesh connection after 4 years of working

Good Morning,

We have 2 AIR-CAP3702E-B-K9 at a remote location in a MESH configuration that stopped working 2 days ago after 4 years of service. The primary building at this location the AIR-CAP3702E-B-K9 on this side works just fine. The second building is located about 200-300 ft across a parking lot and this is the side we lost connectivity with.

The odd thing is when we bring the unreachable AIR-CAP3702E-B-K9 and plug it into another AP port at our primary building it works just fine. Since it doesn't appear to be a configuration issue could it be the antennae for the AIR-CAP3702E-B-K9 has become degraded that it can't make the distance to our 2nd building? If so, would this show up in the boot process or are there other commands that would show transmission issues with the antennae of this AP?

Thank you,

Doug

Firstly is there still line of sight between the two buildings, ie a new building or tree hasnt blocked the signal.

Haydn,

There's no LOS issues and no trees or new buildings in between just pure air. The population here is about 500 with hardly any infrastructure to speak of and interference from other possible sources is extremely low in this remote location.

If the radios have failed you should see errors in the logs - capture the logs on the console from power on.

I've been coordinating these efforts remotely and requested the logs be captured on power up last week along with saving the current configuration. Our new technician reported that the 3702E's kept rebooting and also mentioned during the process one of the AP's was factory reset. Since these devices were manufactured in 2013 and EOL our best bet will probably just replacing these anyway. I recommended replacing these with Cisco IW9167E Heavy Duty Access Points which just came out May 2022. These work in Bridge mode and are hardened so they should work well in the extreme conditions of this remote site.
