Aironet 1200 setup as a repeater for Linksys BEFW11S4

should I be able to connect wirelessly to my Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Router with my Aironet 1200 setup as a repeater???

I am having all kind of problems accomplishing this

Repeater mode is not part of the 802.11 standards and is only supported with other Cisco access points.
