AP1532E not join WLC2504

Hi Expert,

I have a problem to join AP1523E to WLC2504.

I already configure the WLC and put the MAC filtering list of AP's.

For the Switch, I already configured port for WLC is "switch port mode trunk" and for RAP  switch port as "switchport mode access".

How to know the AP status will join the WLC?

I see the AP light always blinking green colour.

Please help me.

Thanks.

Hanif Saharudin

The AP needs to get a dhcp address. If the AP and he WLC is on the same subnet, the the AP would do a later 2 broadcast to discover the AP. You are using the AP Ethernet mac in the filter?

Were the MAC addresses of the APs added into the policy?

Security > AAA > AP Policies

Hi Leo Laohoo,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes. I put it on Security>AA>AP Policies.

Kindly please refer attachment file.

But still, can't join the WLC.

Thanks and Regards,

Put the rap on the same subnet as the WLC management. If the MAC is defined right, the rap will join. This helps eliminate some issues

Hi Scott,

What do you mean "Put the rap on the same subnet as the WLC management.".

Does it need to configure the switch?

Thanks and regards,

Hanif Saharudin

Console into the AP and reboot the AP.

Post the entire boot-up process.  We want to see the error messages displayed.

Hi Leo,

Kindly see the attachment file.

Thanks,

Hanif Saharudin

AP is not getting an IP address at all.

Hi Leo,

Can you help me how to troubleshoot it?

Thanks.

Can you help me how to troubleshoot it?

Is DHCP Option 43 enabled?

Hi Leo,

I do not configure it before.

Need to configure it?

Thanks.

Regards,

Hanif Saharudin

I do not configure it before.

Need to configure it?

Yes, DHCP Option 43 needs to be configured or else each individual AP needs to be statically assigned with an IP address and the AP needs to be manually directed to the WLC.

Hi Leo,

If I assigned the AP with static IP, how to push AP manually directed to the WLC?

I already assigned the one of AP to static IP.

AP00c1.649b.f8cc#sh capwap ip config

LWAPP Static IP Configuration
IP Address 192.168.10.21
IP netmask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.10.10
Primary Controller 192.168.10.13

Thanks.

Hanif,

Is the AP on the same subnet as the WLC?

Scoot,

Yes. Same subnet with WLC. (255.255.255.0)

WLC Configuration

Management interface IP Address         :192.168.10.13

Management interface Subnet               : 255.255.255.0

Management interface Default Router    :192.168.10.10

If I already config static IP to AP, can I ping to the AP from mine laptop?

Thanks.
