archive download-sw alternative

Hello,

occasionally I have to switch an access point (AIR-CAP702W-E-K9) to be an autonomous bridge. Right now we use 2 WLCs for this. The main one is running all the APs and the other one is for testing and for the process to get the bridges autonoum. The main WLC is an AIR-CT8510-K9 and is running with the version 8.3.143.0.

The test WLC is an AIR-CT5508-K9 and is running with the version 8.0.152.0.

I use the command "archive download-sw /force-reload /overwrite tftp://Server/702w_ap1g1-k9w7-tar.153-3.JF1.tar" to get the AP autonom but this command isnt there anymore in version 8.3.143.0.

Is there an alternative command for "archive download-sw /force-reload /overwrite" in version 8.3.143.0 and above?

Thanks for the help.

You can convert the access point from a lightweight unit back to an autonomous unit by loading a Cisco IOS release that supports autonomous mode. If the access point is associated to a controller, you can use the controller to load the Cisco IOS release. If the access point is not associated to a controller, you can load the Cisco IOS release using TFTP. In either method, the access point must be able to access a TFTP server that contains the Cisco IOS release to be loaded.

Step 1

Log on to the CLI on the controller to which the access point is associated.

Step 2

Revert from lightweight mode, by entering this command:

config ap tftp-downgrade tftp-server-ip-address filename access-point-name

Step 3

Wait until the access point reboots and reconfigure the access point using the CLI or GUI.

Were you using the debug capwap console cli command?

I can´t run archive download-sw on the AP 702w because the command list doesn´t show it. The WLC I want to use has LWAPP image version 8.3.143.0.

Well I guess your only way is to use the mode button and tftp the image to the AP.

You need to have Console access of the Access point to execute the software upgrade manually with Archive command
