C9800-40 different install destination / bootflash: and harddisk:

Matt_Hi

Hello,

i have two C9800-40 Controllers, both installed via image (.bin) in bootflash: via install add command.

Now i have one who installed in bootflash:, boot system bootflash:packages.conf and the other one in harddisk:, boot system harddisk:packages.conf.

Both units are running 16.12.01.

I cant help, but i think this is one of the reasons why i'm not able to form the cluster, even though they are directly connected via RP RJ45 Port and chassis ha-interface IPs configured on both.

Anyone an Idea how to get both to use same file system, or knowing if this is even an issue which could prevent HA?

If you need any outputs or further informations, please let me know.

Regards

Matthias

check the approtiate device to use bootflash:package.conf ( after moving the files)

reload the controller and test it.( make sure you connect the console and capture the logs in case any issue).

If production enviroment, do it in maintenacne window with backup config.

Hello,

problem solved with different boot vars.

16.12 seams to expand where it lays when installed. So sollution was to copy .bin into bootflash:, boot from that in bundle mode. Set boot system to bootflash:packages.conf, Installed via install add.
Now i have both controllers on 16.12 and booting from bootflash in install mode.

But still not able to form HA. Tried back-to-back and via switch. It should be so simple, but i can't find what is them stopping from "seeing" each other.

At this moment it proves that it's not a physical connectivity issue that seems to more of a configuration task.

check the configuration :
