Can't change 5GHz channels on 4507 w/sup-8E?

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or simply the IOS is just broken.

I'm on Mexico, regulatory domain N, so we have some channels to use on the A radios:

36,40,44,48,52,56,60,64 and 149,153,157,161,165

I have some chinese tablets that I need to connect to the 5GHz network, but they come hardwired to the first set of channels (they seem to think that in Mexico we don't use the latter, go figure). In the wireless interface for the 4507 (sup8E, IOS Version 03.07.01E) I can select those channels in DCA, but two things happen:

1. DCA won't use those channels, only 157 and 161 (even if they're not selected)

2. In the Radio setting for the AP's only 149,153,157,161 and 165 appear.

I've searched everywhere where to configure that directly in the AP, or in the CLI, but nothing.

Have I hit a bug? Is this TAC case material?

Thanks for your time.

The 1532 is a mesh access-point destined to be used outdoors. The problem is that UNII-1 frequencies are not allowed to be used outdoors, so that is also the reason why you cannot configure this. So you need to replace the access-points or the clients to get this working.

Maybe a little off-topic but the FCC did change / is changing the rules regarding the use of UNII-1 spectrum. Read more about this on Andrew von Nagy's blog.

Please check the ouput of the "show wireless country configured" and "sh ap dot11 5ghz channel | i Channel List" commands. Also, what is the output when you try to set the channel static with the "ap name AP01 dot11 5ghz channel 36" command?

Well, I got this:

#show wireless country configured

 Configured Country.............................: Multiple Countries:MX,US
 Configured Country Codes
        MX  - Mexico : 802.11a Indoor,Outdoor/ 802.11b / 802.11g
        US  - United States : 802.11a Indoor,Outdoor/ 802.11b / 802.11g

#sh ap dot11 5ghz channel | i Channel List
  802.11a 5 GHz Auto-RF Channel List
  Allowed Channel List                       : 36,40,44,48,52,56,60,64,149,153,157,161,165
  Unused Channel List                        : 100,104,108,112,116,132,136,140
  802.11a 4.9 GHz Auto-RF Channel List
  Allowed Channel List                       :
  Unused Channel List                        :

My channels are indeed listed.

SW4507-IUSA#ap name FLASHEO1 dot11 5ghz channel 36
% switch-3:wcm:
Radio is not Disabled or Customize is not enabled

I had to disable the AP radio first :)
SW4507-IUSA#ap name FLASHEO8 dot11 5ghz channel 36
% switch-3:wcm:
Channel set is not supported on the AP Radio.
SW4507-IUSA#

Any ideas? The AP models are 1532E. I can set the AP to the high channels via CLI with no problem.  Could it be that those AP's just don't support the low channels?

Thanks for your help

Thanks for the insight!

I was pulling my hair of on this issue!!!

Fortunately the clients can connect to the higher channels now so I configured those on the AP's.

Thanks again :)
