Hello All,
2504-WLC: Software Version 8.3.132.0
I am unable to access the WLC's Web GUI or Telnet/SSH while my laptop is connected to the Wi-Fi.
I have the option "Enable Controller Management to be accessible from Wireless Clients" checked under Management > Mgmt Via Wireless. But, I am still unable to reach the WLC on Wi-Fi.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Maybe this is why? https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvh32971/?rfs=iqvred
Thanks,
Matt

You can verify that, if you can upgrade your WLC to a later code that got a fix for it.
I would suggest 8.5.130.0 (hopefully it will come within next week or so)

You should always follow the release notes for the software, it includes the upgrade steps. Also, always check the Wireless Software Compatibility Matrix prior to any upgrades - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html.
The last supported version of AireOS for the 1142 is 8.3.x.
Pre-download steps are also documented, https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/8-3/config-guide/b_cg83/b_cg83_chapter_0101.html#ID1225.
To do the pre-download, its pretty easy. Once you've got the new image transferred onto the WLC - you can use the following command to start the pre-download (CLI):
config ap image predownload
And to verify that all the APs have the new image, use the following command:
show ap image all

Ok thanks. Would you be able to supply a link to the upgrade process for the WLC/APs? Its been a while since I've had to do it.
I think I remember there being a way to pre-load the new image onto the APs before rebooting them for the upgrade. Is that right?
We have:
2504 WLC
AIR-CAP2602I-A-K9
AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9
AIR-CAP2702E-A-K9
AIR-AP2702I-UXK9

Looks like I need to replace a few Access Points in our building before I can upgrade the controller. It looks like our WLC is currently on the newest supported version for a couple of our 1142 APs.
Thanks for the info all, and I guess after I get those APs swapped out I can upgrade the WLC.
Thanks Again,
Matt
