I have a very basic config, 40-bit wep, no vlans, etc. When my AP (1231G) is configured to xmit on ch 1 no one can connect. I have Cisco clients and others. Any other channel works fine. Any ideas? I am on IOS 12.3(2)JA Here is my config:

Use a scanner like Netstumbler (www.netstumbler.org/downloads) and see if there is lot of interference on ch 1. This is a possibility.

Not sure if this is a bug!

Nope, no interference. This really seems to be a problem on IBM ThinkPads. Does anyone else have problems with ThinkPad T4x series?

We have a lot of ThinkPads T3x and T4x. Only the T42 is unpredictable... But it performs better, if you are using external USB-connected antennas. We are using AP1231G-E-K9, IOS 12.2(13)JA4

I was told that 12.3(2)JA has problems and no longer should be used.

upgrade to: 12.3(2)JA2 which is the latest as of 3/22/2005

I ran into a problem like this, and it was a problem related to interference/shielding in the laptop. In short, there was noise generated internal to the laptop. We resolved the issue by changing the Clear Channel Assessment setting on the client. I think we changed it to energy detect.

This setting is available in the ACU. Edit the profile and look under the RF network tab:

You should do a Carrier Busy test to check if there is interference on channel 1.
