Cannot join AP with controller

I have just installed my first1832i ap-controller and 11 access points. I cannot get them to join the controller. Ask devices have an IP in the same network, the time is right and the region is right. One I cannot figer out is, how do I activate the license for the controller.

Ok, so this is the source of the problem.  Do you have DHCP Option 43 enabled?

With capwap ap ip I entered IP netmask gateway I now I get this

At this moment I am not at the location so I cannot access the LAP. But what I can see is that they at talking with the controller but the connection is dropped after a pretest.

Do you have licenses installed then?

If it isn't too disruptive I would upgrade the code to 8.3.122.0 as the image may not be on the WLC for some reason. That version should support your APs though.

Hi Agent,

Can you do a show license capacity on your WLC? Or on the monitor page does it say if you have enough licenses?

For your software code you should be able to go to Management -> Software Activation -> Licenses and add as many as you want. It is called Right To Use licensing so you don't need to upload a file. This is assuming you have purchased the appropriate licenses via your Cisco vendor.

The problem is now resolved.

I replaced the 1832i controller with a 1852i controller. All the 1832i APs got reset and joined the 1852i controller with in 5 mins. Reading on the web made it clear that 1832i as a controller only work 1 out of 10 times.
