@gtstech So you were able to get the IP address configured? How?

I upgraded to new OS 17.15.1.4 but it reported the error below
Because you used the wrong image - you used the URWB image (ap1g6m-k9c1) when the AP is in CAPWAP mode (ap1g6b-k9w8).
You need to use the CAPWAP (Lightweight) ap1g6b image as per the link in my previous reply.  The 17.15.2 image is at https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286331478/type/286288051/release/15.3.3-JPT1

Problem solved, thanks

Where did this AP come from?  Specifically, where was it sourced?

I think this AP is an Cisco internal demo unit and found itself in the used market.

Like Leo and the others I'm somewhat baffled as to how this AP can be running software version 8.8.1.10 because it is not supported, at all, on AireOS.  The first version of 9800 IOS-XE to support the AP is 17.14.1 as per
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#ctrl_release-ap-support and the first version of AP software for this model is 15.3.3-JPS
https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286331478/type/286288051/release/15.3.3-JPS

The URWB software seems to use the same version numbers now too, but ap1g6b is the lightweight (CAPWAP) image!

I can only assume you have somehow acquired this AP with experimental/pre-release software installed.  You can try using DHCP with AP locally connected so that it can access the WLC via broadcast discovery to download supported code.  If you cannot get the AP configured with an IP statically or via DHCP (so that it can download working software) then you'll need to contact TAC for RMA.
