Cisco 1810W Access Point not Joining Controller

Hi 

I have a couple of 1810w Access Points, that will not join a controller.  I have may that do.  The error is below

 

Controller Version: 8.5.161.0


CAPWAP State: Discovery
Discovery Request sent to 62.254.78.65, discovery type STATIC_CONFIG(1)
Discovery Request sent to 62.254.78.65, discovery type STATIC_CONFIG(1)
Discovery Request sent to 255.255.255.255, discovery type UNKNOWN(0)
Discovery Response from 62.254.78.65
Discovery response from MWAR ''running version 0.0.0.0 is rejected.
Failed to decode discovery response(status = 4).
CAPWAP SM handler: Failed to process message type 2 state 2.
Failed to handle capwap control message from controller - status 4
Failed to process unencrypted capwap packet 0x23ec000 from 62.254.78.65
Failed to send message to CAPWAP state machine, msgId 0
Failed to send capwap message 0 to the state machine. Packet already freed.
IPv4 wtpProcessPacketFromSocket returned 4

Thanks for this.... searching the forum, seems like you hit a bug that might require an RMA.  Here is a link for you to review:

Please add more information to your post.  

  • What controller do you have
  • What is the image on the controller
  • Are there any other ap's that are successfully joined
    • How many
  • What are the model AP's that are successfully joined
    • How many
  • Is this a new setup
  • Have you reviewed the WLC matrix to make sure the access point is supported on the code version you are running?

What controller do you have: AIR-CT5508-K9
What is the image on the controller: 8.5.161.0
Are there any other ap's that are successfully joined:
How many: 107
What are the model AP's that are successfully joined: AIR-AP1810W-E-K9 & AIR-AP1815W-E-K9

Is this a new setup: Not a new setup.
Have you reviewed the WLC matrix to make sure the access point is supported on the code version you are running? Yes
