Hi All,
I purchased a Cisco Aironet 1815i at the suggestion of the pre-sales team at Cisco. I am using it meerly as a wireless access point in my office where I have between 10 and 25 users using wifi. The issue I have is that is does not have any default configuration. My question is simply this: Is there a built-in web app to configure this product, or do I need a CIsco Support Contract in order to download the software required to configure this product?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!

Hello, I have an issue and I would like to ask for help. I have 5 Cisco aironet 1832s and I want them to work in a autonomous mode, standalone. How can I accomplish this? I have mobility express installed in all of them but when I boot one the others join the first.

Hi,
Autonomous mode is not supported in 1832.
You can use it as ME or lightweight.

I have a similar issue -- trying to bring up an 1815i with Mobility Express (ultimately I will have 7 of them working together on a small campus of a non-profit).
Cisco Support granted me a download of the ME software, however when I load it up to the AP via tftp, I ultimately receive the following message:
"Image downloaded, writing to flash...
do CHECK_ME, part1 is active part
ERROR: INVALID COMMAND PASSED TO capwap-upgrade.sh
Error: Image update failed.
Any ideas how to overcome this? I'd like to avoid buying yet another piece of hardware....

Which image you tried pushing to the Ap?(.Zip file or.tar file)

I am converting the 1815i AP to mobility express using the following image downloaded from cisco
AIR-AP1815-K9-ME-8-5-105-0
And it is being uploaded via tftp as .tar file
10-31-2017 07:40 AM
It may be because of the bug CSCuz81074.
You will need to upgrade the AP to 8.5.105.0 then you can convert the AP to ME.
To upgrade the AP to 8.5.105.0:
* Download the lightweight image for the AP.
* Upgrade the AP from CLI using the following command:
Ap#Archive download-sw /force-reload /overwrite tftp://x.x.x.x/Apimagename
* This will upgrade the AP and reload it.
* Then you can do the conversion.
Ap#ap-type mobility-express tftp://x.x.x.x/AIR-AP1815-K9-ME-8-5-105-0.tar

Hi Vengatesa, I have the identical issue.
When you say "download the lightweight image for the ap", are you referring to the ap1g4-capwap file included in the zip file of AIR-AP1815-K9-ME-8-5-105-0.zip, or another file? The only lightweight file I
can find is ap1g5-k9w8-tar.153-3.JF1
EDIT: I worked it out...it's the .tar file.
11-02-2017 11:15 PM
I am referring to the light weight image:
ap1g5-k9w8-tar.153-3.JF1.tar
-- First do:
Archive download-sw /force-reload /overwrite tftp://x.x.x.x/ap1g5-k9w8-tar.153-3.JF1.tar
This will upgrade the AP and reload it.
--Then you can do the conversion.
Ap#ap-type mobility-express tftp://x.x.x.x/AIR-AP1815-K9-ME-8-5-105-0.tar
