Cisco Aironet 2800 Image Recovery

KSI
Level 1
Level 1

I have several AP2802E with boot issues and I would like to reload the image. I have done image recovery on Cisco Aironet 2600 and 2700 before. Cisco Aironet 2800 has a completely different OS. Does anyone have a document with image recovery process for AP2800E. Is there are any similar commands to check and repair flash such as fsck -test flash: ? Please note that I am working with a Lightweight Images.

Hi

If this AP is lightweight, they should get the image from the WLC and you should not worry about it unless you are trying to join them in a wlc and you are failing.

Thank you for your suggestion but my AP2802E is resetting and rebooting before it gets connected to our Cisco Wireless controller. I am looking for a process of testing and repair of flash drive and image recovery process for AP2800 since it has a different OS from previous AP2700 and AP2600.

But this is the expected behavior of a lightweight AP when it does not joing the wlc. It will try, fail, rebóot and try again.

Which wlc do you have and which version?

And show the command

>show ap bundle

If the AP boots up in u-boot, contact Cisco TAC and organize for an RMA.

The process to upload the firmware (per AP) via console & u-boot is about 45 minutes and requires TAC access.

It is faster to get the AP RMA-ed.

Thank you for your suggestions, however all our units of Cisco AP2802E are out of warranty and out of contract support. I need to figure out how to do it without TAC support.

I am reloading software on AP2602E and AP2702E using TFTP server on regular basis. I am looking for reloading process for AP2802E. It has an OS that is completely different from previous models. I would like to have a feedback from someone who has an experience with that process.

Oh sweet summer child, please carefully read the Warranty Information section of the 2800 Data Sheet:

The Cisco Aironet 2800 Series Access Points come with a limited lifetime warranty that provides full warranty coverage of the hardware for as long as the original end user continues to own or use the product. The warranty includes 10-day advance hardware replacement and ensures that software media are defect-free for 90 days.
