Cisco AP aironet1832i bandwidth performance low

My Community

We have issued related to AP bandwidth performance too low.

Scenarios

Cisco Aironet1832i convert to the controller ( Cisco Mobile Express) and other AP joined controller as well.

We try to test bandwidth from AP to provide SSID and got bandwidth around 10-20Mbps.

Channel Width: 80 MHz

802.11ac (5GHz)

- Transmit Power 8

- Signal Strength: -53 dBm

Pls, help.

Hi

Test bandwidth is always trick and the reason can be many things. From the wireless perspective, I will ignore anything else on your network, what could justify this performance is the spatialstream on client side.

With 80MHz channel and with this level of signal, you could get this speed with one spatial stream.

I would note that MCS 8 was selected, and the speed should hit to 351Mbps.

Pls, correct me.

How many spatial stream does you client support?

Good.

With this client, you should achieve at least 351Mbps in the Air interface. Considering of couse you are not in a crowed environment.

How are you performing this test?  Are using speedtest or something like that?

This is what cisco states on its Data Sheet, with 3x3 MIMO and 2 Spatial stream. But, this is theorically and there are some "IFs".

A good explanation can be found here.

802.11ac Wave 1 and 2 capabilities

●  3x3 MIMO with two spatial streams, single-user or multiuser MIMO
●  MRC
●  802.11ac beamforming (transmit beamforming)
●  20-, 40-, and 80-MHz channels
●  PHY data rates up to 867 Mbps (80 MHz in 5 GHz)
●  Packet aggregation: A-MPDU (Tx/Rx), A-MSDU (Tx/Rx)
●  802.11 DFS
●  CSD support

We used  speedtest, we compare with other product speeds better than Cisco.

Well, AP aironet1832i is not the most powerfull Cisco AP  but should be better then what you show.
