Cisco wireless and apple ios devices

My apple devices at work running ios 6 have a problem with streaming video like youtube.  The problem is it won't play the video at all, and will either just have a spinning loading icon or "play button" icon crossed out.  The same iphone device will play youtube videos fine at home on a Cisco M10 Valet home wireless router.  One ipad2 with older ios5 plays streaming video fine at work.  Macbooks and windows laptops also play streaming video over wireless fine.

Does anybody know how to fix this?  Has anybody got streaming video to apple devices on ios 6 working?

Here is my environment,

WLC 5508 version 7.3

Mix of 3502, 3602, 1142 APs.  50 APs deployed around internal LAN on campus.

ssid settings,

layer 2 - wpa+wpa2, wpa2 policy, wpa2 encryption AES, auth key mgmt 802.1x

no layer 3 security

qos - platinum

About 100 users

Let me know if there are any other settings to look at or try.

I've also tried the fast transition feature which seemed to improve roaming but not the streaming video issue.

I have seen this on 7.2 code as well. It seems iphone's may not do TSPEC per this link...

Found this in old 4.x wlc doc...

7.4.100.X code has some enhancements to Apple Bonjour.  The next firmware release, 7.5.X.X, will incorporate stage 2 enhancements.

Wireless LAN Apple Bonjour Deployment Guide

Stage 2 enhancements, can you expand on that? Like filtering the bonjour advertisements to certain aps

I don't because I read this on the Release Notes for the 7.5.X.X.

7.5.X.X will be released in the next few months.  I think 7.5.X.X is an interim version before 8.0.X.X comes out.

Thanks twhurt001  disabling video CAC fixed the video streaming problem for ios 6 devices!   Is there a more authoratative website with the information you posted on http://mrncciew.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/wlc-74-01.png  ?

I've been searching for where the ios 6 CAC bug is documented.

I'll also have to test ios 5 devices again when I get a chance.

Hi George,

Here is the detail I got when I search bugID CSCud67358 in the bug toolkit

Symptom:

Apple clients running iOS 6.0.1 may experience degraded throughput when

attempting to download media rich content such as video.

Apple clients running iOS 5.x or earlier do not experience the issue under

identical conditions.

Apple support has observed and analyzed the issue, and has confirmed non

compliant CAC behavior with iOS 6.0.1 software. Apple intends to correct the

issue in forthcoming firmware updates.

This release note will be updated with code fix specifics when available.

Conditions:

Apple iOS 6.0.1 client connected to Unified Access Point at 802.11N data rates

with Video Call Admission Control (CAC) enabled.

Workaround:

Disable 802.11N support or disable Video Call Admission Control (CAC).

HTH.

Rasika
