Solved: Clients misses ping while roaming from AP to AP

Fully updated win10 clients misses one or two ping while roaming from one accesspoint to another. Other client roam without any issue. Both clients are on the same SSID and 2.4Ghz.

wlc is wism2- v8.3.140.0

AP: AIR-CAP2702E-E-K9

Any help is appreciated!

Tried with Intel AC 9260 in two machines over five days of normal work and it is working just perfect.

Have you updated the drivers? When I have done some testing in the past, I too seen a ping or two being dropped. So what other devices are you testing with. Does this happen with an open SSID?

Yes, drivers are updated so is windows with newest version 1803. I didn't have this issue with my laptop Lenovo w51. This is a warehouse with trucks connected to PC and a screen. Problem is occures mostly with these trucks and not the voice-pick mobile devices. It is not tested with open ssid. But I did try it on another SSID with WPA2-AES. The same result. :(

What kind of wireless clients do these "trucks" have?

warehouse trucks with nonbranded hardware. It's mostly assembled of different hardware. but network adapter is intel.

When you tested with your laptop, are you moving the same speed as the trucks?

So you are also saying this never happened prior to the latest release of Windows? Your AP’s when roaming are joined to the same controller?

Be sure to check the Network Adaptor settings for Roaming Agressiveness. I know the Intel Chipset defaults to medium so you may need to increase.

It happens to these mini PC's win10 with intel network adapter. but not to my lenovo PC, and not to other clients. Yes all AP are in the same WLC. And it is the only location in that WLC.

Is there authentication on this SSID? Forms of EAP can have small delays waiting for the auth to go through on the new AP. There are methods for dealing with this, such as CCKM.

This doc does a pretty good job discussing them. It's a voice document, but that's an app that certainly doesn't approve of 3-5 seconds of re-auth time when roaming, so it should be solid for any situation with similiarly intolerant traffic.

here is a debug of a client, when it roams from ap to ap it misses a ping. its a fully updated machine with newest win10 v 1803 and all drivers.

What is the exact model of the Intel wireless NIC and what is the version driver is running on?

It is Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 tested with driver 20.60.0 which is newest and older version which is 20.50.1 but no luck with either of them.
