Conevrt AP mobility express to lightweight access point

Hi ,

 

I hope that you are doing good.

 

bought access point air-ap1815i-e-k9c for mobility express and i will use this access point to join wlc air-ct3504-k9.

 

How can i do it?

 You need to download a capwap image for your AP model on Cisco site. Convert it following this link and then join it on the WLC.

@flavio - Will 'ap-type capwap' out of the box work too? I'm actually not sure myself but some ME APs appear to ship with both?

In this link, it's not montioned that we need dowload a capwap image for my AP to do this operation.

 

We need just execute command line ap-type capwap and after it will reboot to dowload capwap image from controller.

My bad, the other way around need software download. You can just follow the guide.

Hi,

You just need three step to convert it:


Step 1 Login to mobility express CLI, type in username and password

Type Ciscoapshell and give the password


Step 2 Type Enable to go to privileged execution mode.


Step 3 Enter ap#ap-type capwap and confirm to switch to the CAPWAP type.
