CW9164I-E - Default username/password

Hello,

I will need to set up a new AP (CW9164I-E) for a test setup.
It will receive IP address via DHCP, however I can´t configure DHCP Option 43/DNS records for different reasons.

I hope the AP receives IP address via DHCP, and I will try to access the AP via IP address via SSH.

Then apply manually this command on the AP via SSH:
config ap capwap primary-base <IP_Address_of_the_Target_WLC>

For that I would like to validate the following points:
1- Is the SSH enabled by default?
2- What is the default Username/Password

Thank you

Get a console cable and connect to the AP using the console port.  If you are going to use this as standalone access point, you will need to install EWC before put it to work.

 - You won't have SSH access for a CAPWAP (client) AP ; use the setting through console access
    for credentials try Cisco/Cisco

Thank you so much for the quick reply.
I will connect this AP to the WLC.

However, since I am not allowed to access DHCP/DNS to change option 43, I need to manually access the AP and configure
config ap capwap primary-base <IP_Address_of_the_Target_WLC>

So my doubt is regarding how to access the AP initially

Well, from what I understood, via console cable I can enable SSH.

  - Initially you will have to issue the command through the console if it is running a capwap client image currently.
If the AP can join a controller later on , then SSH access becomes possible , if configured for the AP in the controller
    settings (simply stated)

If you have a WLC on the network and you can not use DHCP and DNS, the only option you have is connect to the AP, using  Serial cable and issue the command you mentioned above.
If the Access point is not joined in the WLC, it wond accept SSH or HTTP.  Only after joined it will accept SSH.

The last option you have to not use console is connecting the AP on the same vlan as the WLC management interface. Which most of time is not possible

Thank you,

I will access via console cable and then configure the config ap capwap primary-base <IP_Address_of_the_Target_WLC>

config is a command used on AireOS WLC not on AP.

Correct command for the AP is:
capwap ap primary-base <WLC-name> <WLC-IP>
and then
capwap ap restart
