Embedded Wireless Controller on Catalyst 9105AX Access Points

Hi

We are going to purchase Access points C9115AXI-I and C9115AXI-EWC-I . Both are same prices

But C9115AXI-EWC-I is announced by Cisco to be end of sale end of this month. So we can purchase only C9115AXI-I with the DNA essential license

I need to confirm that we should be able to buy APs C9115AXI-I and to convert one of them this to EWC to act as master controller using the software available on the software download page shown below

Or we would have any issue at this time

Thanks

 - You can do that , but since cisco has announced https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/embedded-wireless-controller-catalyst-access-points/wireless-ewc-access-point-eol.html
it's probably better to switch to the native 9800 platforms , you can for instance download and deploy the virtual 9800 controller for free (APs must be licensed)

Yes you can do that.  And if you are not using DNAC (Catalyst Centre) or any other DNA features then you do not require the DNA license so could select the "Opt out" but as Marce says be aware that due to EWC end of life the software updates for EWC will stop according to the end of life notice.

If you decide to use the APs with 9800-CL (which will be around and updated for the foreseeable future) then you will still require the DNA license.
