ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED Access Point Aironet 2600 on modem/router TIM

Hi everyone, given the thousand problems encountered with the latest firmware upgrades of the **bleep** tim hub, I decided to try the very complicated Cisco world by buying an Aironet 2600 WIFI Access Point and then wanting to disable the wifi management of the modem / router.
The problems arise immediately: I connected the AP to the tim hub with a network cable, I set a static ip to the mac of the AP, I can NOT access the GUI of the AP ..... I pinged the ip of the AP from prompt and responds regularly but the browser returns me "connection refused". in the meantime I'm waiting for the console cable to go and see something from the inside because right now I don't even know what firmware is installed on the AP.

Thanks for the help

Rasika's guide is nice and simple: https://mrncciew.com/2012/10/20/lightweight-to-autonomous-conversion/

Most of those commands you're quoting are ROMMON commands.  You are running the Cisco IOS recovery image so you need to use IOS commands.

Stop worrying about format and erase - I already told you that you do NOT need to do that and better not to!

                  - Make sure that the 2600 runs an autonomous image, if not clear post the boot process here : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/15-3-3/configuration/guide/cg15-3-3/cg15-3-3-chap4-first.html#76570

This was my suspect so i bought a console cable rj45 to usb and i’ll check which firmware it has.
Do you knows if there is a Cisco original cable rj45 to usb? And what product code has it?
Thanks

The "standard" Cisco console cable is RJ45 to DB-9 serial port connector so don't worry about that.

Something like this is fine https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MYQPYKR/

Very likely your AP is running CAPWAP (lightweight) image and needs to be converted to autonomous.

i bought this cable:

https://www.amazon.com/DSD-TECH-SH-RJ45P-PL2303RA-Switches/dp/B083S4LXLS/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2SUWYZ6FXQVY1&keywords=DSD+TECH+SH-RJ45P&qid=1652635205&sprefix=dsd+tech+sh-rj45p%2Caps%2C158&sr=8-2

i connected the AP (AIR-CAP26021I-A-K9 REV:-B0 and i didn't know that CAP or LAP comes with lightweight....) to PUTTY

so i found the lightweight WIRELESS LAN RECOVERY installed....is it ordinary?

i see the time is not syncronized with mine, has it a region lock? (not in bound state)

do you need other information? do you see anything wrong? do i need only to flash ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JF15.tar (last autonomous) to resolve?

thanks for your advices

 - Seems to run a controller based OS (capwap) mode , you need to convert to autonomous mode. Google on this subject, you will find various resources as to how to do this.

- Yes recovery image is a backup mini CAPWAP image designed purely to allow it to download a full image not provide service.

i see the time is not syncronized with mine, has it a region lock? (not in bound state)

- The AP has no built in real time clock so will get time from NTP (autonomous) or controller (lightweight) after booting up.  Nothing to do with region. But the product code (-A) tells you the regulatory domain and that AP is legally only allowed to be used in the correct licensed regulatory domain(s).  Lookup where that AP can be used here https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/assets/prod/wireless/wireless-compliance-tool/index.html - Product AIR-CAP2602.  Using it in other domains could result in incorrect channel and/or power settings for those domains being used and get you into trouble.

do you need other information? do you see anything wrong?

- No

do i need only to flash ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JF15.tar (last autonomous) to resolve?

- Yes.  Bear in mind that many people have reported problems with the autonomous GUI not working well on recent releases so stick to using the CLI.  If you want to use the GUI you might need to go for a much older version of code but those will be affected by more security vulnerabilities which have been fixed in the later code.  Cisco will not be fixing any of those problems because the product is end of support and some recent security vulnerabilities won't have been fixed either.

No need to format the flash (like I said recovery image is very basic - purely intended for loading new software)!

All you need is to copy the .tar file to flash and then "archive download-sw flash:ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JF15.tar" or direct from TFTP "archive download-sw tftp://1.2.3.4/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JF15.tar" where 1.2.3.4 is the IP of your TFTP server.

If you had formatted the flash: and reloaded then you'll be at ROMMON and it's even more tricky to work with.

That extracts the software and updates the boot variables so on next reload the AP will boot on the new image and radio firmware.

i, i wrote that it's  impossible to format flash, it doesn't known the commands format and erase (WHY?)so in this case i need only to activate the tftp server, set DEFAULT_ROUTER (ip AP and subnet are configured whit a static ip in the modem/router and it show like assigned or do i have to repeat?)  , tftp_init, ther_init, flash_init, tar -xtract tftp://"ip ftp server"/ap3g2...tar flash:

right?

i was following this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2qNFVZ-KRQ&list=FLdfSmefXYSYlGSYmHNi1elA&index=1&t=2s

tnx
