Hi,
I have some LAP1242 which by mistake were bought for Mesh. I am trying to convert them to LWAPP so what I did first was to convert them to Stand Alone then to LWAPP but I cannot get the AP to join the WLC and sends several error logs.
I attached some logs taken from AP and WLC so that you can figure out what's going on.
I wonder if I have to remove anything from flash either on SA or LWAPP mode (I know that in some cases you have to delete privete-config in order to avoid the AP taken previous configurations). By the way I think I had never seen this c1240-k9w8-mx.124-25e.JA2 on an AP IOS before, I wonder if it has to do with the mesh thing.
Thank you!

I can't view your files from this iPhone app. Have you looked at this doc. It explains how to upload different codes onto an access point.

Hi,
I have done that process thousands of times but this time the APs came with an IOS for mesh and once it is back in LWAPP it still shows the mesh stuff in the flash.

Have you tried to delete that image and tftp the new image?

That's what you do when convert from SA to LWAPP and vice versa you tftp a different image.
What I just did was from stand alone I delted "privet-config", "mesh_cfg.txt", "mesh_port_cfg.txt", and tried to delete also the c1240-k9w8-mx.124-25e.JA2. Then I converted to LWAPP but I had the same result.
I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that these APs come with mesh from factory?
Thank you!

You need to tftp this file to your 1242 and set it to boot from it. Then delete the other image before you reboot.

So I have to convert to stand alone again, then tftp this image? I don't know how to tftp something to a LWAPP.

If you have it as an autonomous ap just connect it to the network and let it get an IP address. You can the use the archive download-sw /o /r tftp://

Hi Scott,
Unfortunately it didn't work either and I still have the same files in the flas, the ones related with mesh.

Hello,
I just run into this threat searching for an answer to the problem I have had for quite some time. The problem you are describing is exactly the same as my problem. We also have LAP1242, WLC2500 and the same error messages.
The last post is from 18th of Jan... I was wondering if you had any luck solving this issue since then?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Arjen

I have a 1242 and 1131 and have no problem converting these to lightweight or to autonomous. I guess you can start a new thread and post the output if what you see.

Hello Scott,
Thanks for your prompt reply!
Are your 1242 and 1131 connected to WLC2500 (WLC2504) as well? If so, what firmware does your WLC have and which one on your 1242?
I hooked into this threat because AP, WLC and errors are exactly the same. Just avoiding different threats for the same issue/problem.
Thanks
