Hi all,
I've been getting "%MAC_MOVE-SP-4-NOTIF: Host xx.xx.xx.xx.xx in vlan 123 is flapping between port Gi1/18 and port Po1" entries on my core switches.
The topology looks like this:
Interface Po1 connects my two 6500 core switches, we have HSRP running for each vlan on the the wireless network.
Core 1 has WLC-1 connected to G1/18
Core 2 has WLC-2 connected to G1/16
The problem I think is that as a wireless client roams from AP to AP, those radios may be on different controllers and the path to the HSRP primary interface from the two controllers is via different paths. We don't have enough capacity on our controllers for one controller to handle all radios, so we can't associate them all to a single controller.
What are our options? Would connecting both WLC's to each core help? If so, what would need to be done on the controllers to make this work, if anything?
Thanks!

Do you have mobility up on both WLC's. You shouldn't see that if the WLC's are creating an anchor for the mobility.
Thanks,

We’re running 6.0 firmware on the 4400 series controllers. Mobility groups are configured but I don’t see anywhere to configure anchors. So anchors associate a client with the same controller no matter which AP their connected to?

Well if your mobility shows up/up mobility should function properly. If you do a show mobility status from the wlc CLI what does it show there.

Hi
I do not think you should point the two ports (Gi1/18 and Gi1/16) on different switches to the same etherchannel irrespective of whether you are running HSRP or not. Could you remove etherchannel and see if the flapping stops.

There is no etherchannel between the controllers and the core, only core to core.

There are some different bugs in 7.0 in relation to Mac moving and arp responses. Take a look at the bug toolkit. 7.0.230 fixes many of them I believe.

I’ll check the cli status and get back to you. Thanks.

hey guys, apparently I got the same issue in my WLC5500/NEXUS5500
2014 Nov 18 18:57:14 nx-sw02 %FWM-6-MAC_MOVE_NOTIFICATION: Host 645a.045a.7981 in vlan 66 is flapping between port Po1 and port Po2

the Po2 is connected the wlc2 to nx-sw01 and nx-sw02
wlc1 got the 7.6.130.0 and the wlc2 have the 7.0.250.0 (last version to support my legacy devices)

Any thoughts in why some MAC's are flaping between the portchannels?
