Mass migration 350 VxWorks -> IOS

I am hoping someone can provide information or suggestions for how to migrate 1800+ 350 APs running VxWorks to IOS.

There has got to be something other than the conversion tool, one at a time method.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cisco WLSE makes its very easy to migrate to IOS. It gets the current config form the VxWorks AP as a part of the migration. Its got all the enterprsise features like scheduling the mirgation at certain time. But the hardware is a bit pricey. But with more than 1000+ APs it does provide ROI.

Thanks for the response. I had looked at WLSE, but the documentation I saw mentioned support for upgrading 1200 APs, but I didn't see the 350s mentioned. Will it handle their upgrades as well?

hi

wavelink is also giving softwares which allow group upgradation of access points. I got this with my cisco devices. check them

WLSE works with AP 350.

You want to be careful of migrating the 350s to IOS. There have been numerous posts and I have had first hand experience with the IOS code messing up the 350's Many times the IOS 350s rebooted themselves at random times, kicked clients off, and lost IP addresses.

I'll second that... My AP350 was pretty much useless after the IOS upgrade. The only cards that would hold an association were Cisco cards. None of my Orinoco Cards would work, forget Prism. My old Aironet cards caused the AP350 to crash... Forget IOS on the 350. And since you can't go back to VxWorks, it's pretty much a door stop after the upgrade.

Huh, we've had very few problems since upgrading our 350's from VxWorks to IOS. Migration went fairly smoothly and solved alot of problems connecting to our Symbol wireless scanners.
