Mobile Router

This is a stupid question but I am trying to understand.

If you have a mobile router with cellular capabilities, do you still need a modem for internet access? When you can just access the internet through your mobile provider?

Thank you! nd Mobility

Thank you for responding. Wouldn't the 4G connection allow connection to the internet, thus removing the need for a modem?

I haven't looked at a particular model, but let's say I wanted to set up my own network separate from the wired one I have already, which uses a modem. If I had a mobile router, with a SIM card, and then wired equipment to that (as needed)...my other devices would have a connection to the internet?

The 4G connection is the modem (the part that creates the 4G connection).
You do need some Routing and NAT functionality in the 4G device though, or your devices attached to it will not get access.
