Hello Team,
I am in need of assistance in upgrading my Prime 2.2 VM to Prime 3.1 on a physical appliance. Any assistance will be great!

I would do a fresh install (rather backup & restore).
You can export maps & import once you add your network devices to PI 3.1

Yes. You can also export the devices and import to 3.1.

3.2 was released last week, you might want to consider directly going to this release, as I don't expect the 3.1 release to receive many more updates in the future.
A new major release (like 3.2) typically stops the production on patches of the previous version (like 3.1).
I'm so far successfully running 3.2, I only use it for wireless.
