Is there a power injector installed between the switch port and the AP?
07-03-2023 04:58 AM
Hi @annah1
The print seems to not be related to the AP, maybe it is the switch port?
If the radios is down, it can be a problem on the AP or the AP is not receiving enough power.
Run "show power inline" on the switch where the AP is connected and check the power available.
You can also reload the AP and see if the status changes.

Hello Flavio ,
Thanks for your quick feedback ,
yes , the print is related to the port switch where the AP is connected .
no power is consumming even the power inline is on auto .

Do you have more APs on this switch working?
CDP and LLDP is enable to this port?
If yes for both questions, I would thing about reload the AP first, factory reset if reload did not fix and replace the AP if none of it works.

Is there a power injector installed between the switch port and the AP?

Hi,
I have the same problem, using a power injector between my switch port (TP-Link modem) and the AP (

What model of power injector are you using @JOSEPH93 ?
As an absolute minimum it needs to be POE+ (802.3at) 30W and it must support CDP or LLDP otherwise the AP will not work. The only officially supported power injector as per the data sheet is:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/aironet-3800-series-access-points/datasheet-c78-741682.html#Productspecifications

Hi @Rich R ,
Find here attached informations about my power injector.
And from the WLC, i got this other information below related to the AP :
Model : AIR-AP3802I-E-K9
AP Name : AP7488.BB71.xxxx
Ethernet MAC : 7488.bb71.xxxx
Location : DOMICILE
IP Address : 192.168.1.101
Serial Number : FCW2307xxxx
Power Status : PoE/Medium Power
Power Type/Mode : PoE/Medium Power (15.4 W)
Don't hesitate if you need further information.
Thanks for help

@JOSEPH93 that power injector is 802.3af (15.4W).
3802 radios will not operate with that power injector.
You should replace with the correct power injector as per the datasheet.

Thanks @Rich R , I hope this one meets all the requirements even though it is not a cisco model

I doubt it but impossible to say without seeing the technical specs. The label makes no mention of 802.3at so most likely it does not support LLDP so the AP will not work.

Collect the complete console log from the AP from power on and attach here as a text file - that should show exactly what the problem is - either:
- not enough power, as others have suggested or
- faulty AP hardware (quite common on 1832 and 1852) in which case RMA required.

thank you all for your feedback ,
the issue was coming from the power injector , issue solved when i removed it and connect the ap on the switch .
