rebooting Lightweight AP's

Hi All,

How would i be able to reboot all AP's in a group at the same time instead of rebooting one by one - i know htis is done on cisco wlc controller but cant find the option to do it - all ap's in light weight mode controlled by cisco wlc

Hi,

AFAIK, as such there is no TAB to reboot all the APs which are registered on the WLC in one shot.. However, changing the AP-manager interface IP address will stop the communication with the AP and the APs will reboot. when rebooted you can switch the AP manager Ip to the one before..this may be a hard way though!!

Oh ok, But i just want to reboot only AP in H-Reap group and not all AP;s - we have other ap's as well which does need rebooting - is there a way ?

AFAIK, there is no way to do it.. if u know the switchport on which it is connected and the AP are grabbing power from POE, then int range commanf on the switch may help you!! if not.. no way..

Hmmmm... If you have a WCS, then you can create a LWAPP template and you can use this i guess!!

You can definitely do it with WCS, but if you don't have one, you could telnet/ssh to the controller and cut/paste from notepad like below...

config ap reset AP1
y
config ap reset AP2

y

config ap reset AP3

So Surendra basically chnage the interface of the WLAN or you mean change to ip address of WLAN AP manager and revert it  back to old one ?

Doing it on the WLC wil reboot all the APs (By changing the AP manager IP address)... this is not recommended.. WCS is the best way to do.. or the switchport shut no shut..

Step 1: Disconnect power (the power jack for external power or the Ethernet cable for in-line power) from the access point.
Step 2: Press and hold the MODE button while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 3: Hold the MODE button until the Status LED turns amber (approximately 10 to 12 seconds), and release the Button. All access point settings return to factory defaults.
